The Number One Way to Lose Weight Costs Less Than a Dollar

New research is in and results show that the number one thing we can do to lose weight is as simple as keeping a food journal! It doesn’t have to be anything fancy….. $1 will buy a nice little notebook that you can use to create your own food journal.  Keeping track of how much you eat by writing it down each day, rather than what you eat, is key for weight loss.

This most recent study was completed by researchers at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle, Washington and published in the July, 2012 issue of The Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

This is not the first study to reach these results. In 2008, Kaiser Permanente’s Center for Health Research in Portland, Ore. shared results from their study which found that keeping a food diary can double a person’s weight loss. These findings, from one of the largest and longest running weight loss maintenance trials ever conducted, were published in the August issue of the American Journal of Preventive Medicine.

If you are familiar with any of the BIG NAME weight loss programs, you know that keeping track of your food is a critical part of their instructions. It seems they might have known the secret long before the research did! So my challenge to you is: Buy a small notebook or use your smart phone app and keep track of your intake for at least 1 week. I am certain that if you do this seriously you to will find success

I use an app instead of an actual paper journal now, but it has had great results for me. It sure makes you think twice about what you put in your mouth if you know you have to account for it later. 🙂

App is more convenient to use nowadays, you can carry anywhere you go, I use app also for my food journal. I watch my diet so it works better for me 🙂
